xmas split[6246]

The holidays are a time to spread good cheer, and no one does that quite like NHL teams.

Elaborate greetings have become a tradition unlike any other, and players around the league have offered up enough bad singing and questionable acting to make spirits bright through the whole holiday season.
But a few over the years have stood out above the rest. Here are some of the greatest NHL team holiday greetings ever.

Chicago Blackhawks Sing-Along Holiday Album, 2011

Watch: Blackhawks Sing-Along
Fake holiday albums are always a hit with fans, and the Chicago Blackhawks edition from 2011 combines bad singing, holiday classics and enough corny name play to rule the season.
All of the Blackhawks' stars appear, and the album is fun no matter which holiday you celebrate. Included in the mix is Nick Leddy's incredible take on "Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel."

St. Louis Blues 12 Days of Christmas, 2013

Watch: Blues 12 Days of Christmas
"The 12 Days of Christmas" is a perfectly fine holiday song, but it became a true hockey holiday classic when the St. Louis Blues sang it in 2013.
We're particularly partial to Maxim Lapierre's pretend french horn playing and T.J. Oshie's reference to the dirtiest dangles anywhere. Don't forget to

.

The Bear & the Gang Christmas Spectacular, 2013

Watch: The Bear & The Gang
Christmas specials are about finding the sweet spot between cheesy, funny and sweet, and the Boston Bruins 2013 Christmas Spectacular nailed it. The kitsch 1980s-style intro, plus Rene Rancourt's epic, and now
traditional holiday performance
sets an exceptional backdrop for the delightfully bizzare bits featuring members of the team.

Holiday Sweater - Sharks Holiday Video, 2014

Watch: Sharks Holiday Sweater
The San Jose Sharks have produced
more than a few holiday classics
but the Holiday Sweater rap from 2014 is the gold standard.
The writing is incredible, the sweaters are so bad they're good, John Scott delivers another exceptional performance in a holiday video and play-by-play announcer Randy Hahn steals the show.

Pittsburgh Penguins Home Alone redux, 2015

The Pittsburgh Penguins have turned their annual holiday video into an art form, but their remake of the holiday classic "Home Alone" from 2015 takes the cake. From Mike Lange's incredible job as the mobster Johnny from "Angels with Filthy Souls," to Phil Kessel's performance as Marv, the acting hits all the right notes.

Captain Karl's Christmas Classic, 2015

Watch: Captain Karl's Christmas
The funnest players are the ones who can make fun of themselves, which is why Erik Karlsson's performance in the Ottawa Senators 2015 holiday card is particularly good. Karlsson shows off his inner child, imagining a white elephant-style holiday party he hosts for all of his teammates performed entirely by tiny toys.
Then-Senators coach Dave Cameron snaps Karlsson out of it, but the Ottawa defenseman is having so much fun, he convinces his boss to play along.

Sabres Dramatic Reading of "All I Want for Christmas is You," 2016

Jack Eichel captures the comedy from the first note of the Buffalo Sabres' 2016 holiday video. The Sabres forward delivers a perfect deadpan opening line of the 1994 Mariah Carey classic, cracking up defenseman Zach Bogosian, whose lap he is sitting on. The gag continues for the full two minutes.

Capitals Tunes, Volume 2, 2017

Capitals Tunes
The Washington Capitals delivered this instant classic when they sang their hearts out this year.
Watching the Capitals sing for "Wow: Capitals Tunes Volume 2," is funny, but add the fact that there was no first volume or the bonus "Wow: Tom Wilson Sings XMas," puts this one over the top.
