Mrazek-mask

Petr Mrazek is channeling the spirit of Philadelphia Flyers greatness in his own quest to bring the Stanley Cup to Philadelphia.

Mrazek's new mask honors the Flyers' Broad Street Bullies teams, which won the franchise's only championships in 1974 and 1975.

The top of the mask has images of Flyers legends Bobby Clarke, Dave Schultz and Bernie Parent, and the years 1974 and 1975 beneath the Flyers logo on either side. "Broad Street Bullies," the legendary nickname for those championship teams, is written across the front in the style of the throwback white name plates that the organization used for both home and road jerseys during that era.
"It is raw, it is gritty," mask artist David Gunnarsson, who painted the mask for Mrazek,

"It was a true honor to paint and create this piece for my friend."
Mrazek had been wearing a plain white mask with Flyers since Philadelphia acquired him from the Detroit Red Wings for two draft picks on Feb. 19. But it's not the first time he's used his mask to honor former hockey legends. His

last season had late Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch and icons Steve Yzerman and Gordie Howe in the same artistic stylings.
