Corey Perry doesn't usually take the opening face-off, but he made an exception for an old friend.

Perry, now with the Tampa Bay Lightning, went face-to-face with his old teammate at center ice, Anaheim Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf on Thursday.

Perry and Getzlaf have a long history together. They were both drafted in 2003, made their debuts during the 2005-06 season and helped the Ducks to the 2007 Stanley Cup title.
Earlier this month, Getzlaf announced
he would retire
at the end of this season.

The Ducks referenced "The Twins" nickname in a photo they shared on social media. Not only did the two come up together and become fast friends playing 14 seasons together with the Ducks, they were born just six days apart.
Before the puck was dropped, Getzlaf gave Perry a tap on the leg with his stick.
Perry, for the record, won the face-off.
